Fan Fair News
Well it must be getting close to Fan Fair time. I got my first ad in the mail yesterday. In case you haven't got the word, Gray Line Bus is running a pretty big special this year. You might want to check out their Web Site: WWW.GrayLineNashville.COM They must have rooms reserved at almost every hotel in Nashville, so I bet you can get a room real close. If you want to call them their 800 number is: I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend Fan Fair this year. I might not be in the states. Divided We Fall
Well I guess you can say this about just about any country line dance club in the USA. They took the approach that, if we teach different dances our customers won't be able to dance anywhere else, so we'll keep our customers. Just to make sure the other clubs don't copy our dance steps and steal our customers, we'll keep teaching new dances every week. As a result, when a local dancer went on vacation and tried to go dancing at another club say Wildhouse in Nashville, they found it hard to do any of the line dances. Worse yet when they went back to their club, they were dancing three or four new dances that you hadn't learned because they were on vacation. So a lot of country dancers decided it wasn't worth the trouble to try and keep up with the latest line dances. That eventually forced the clubs out of business because to many of their customers decided to give up line dancing. Some of their customers tried to find a new club but they had different rules and different dances. That made most of them decide to give up dancing but a few did decide to relearn all their dances and start over.
Unfortunately, history will repeat itself. More people go on vacation or get involved in other activities for a couple of weeks when they come back, they decide things have changed and they give up line dancing. So more clubs close.
I hope you got the picture by now. If the few Country Line Dance Clubs that are left don't decide to teach the same dances and work together, they'll all fold.
The English have already stared fixing that problem. If you want to save Country Line Dancing PLEASE GET YOUR CLUB TO JOIN THE REST OF THE WORLD AND FIGHT THE END OF COUNTRY MUSIC AND LINE DANCING. You can do that by subscribing to
LINEDANCER MAGAZINE.
Check out their WEB SITE at:
They publish a list of Country Dance Clubs around the world. Only one in the USA (Clearwater Florida) but lots of them in Europe and the rest of the world. Anyway they share their favorite line dances and they let everyone one know which ones are the most popular. So if you travel to one of those cities you might be able to line dance and have a good time someday.
Let's start fixing the USA's Country Music and Line Dancing problems by uniting together. We'll all have a lot more fun and our numberships will start to grow again instead of decline.
PS They have a free e-mail service, so if you want to meet and talk to Country Music lovers, you might check out their Web Site and join the free service with the ads. You can pay for if you want to get rid of the ads but I like free stuff myself. I save my money for other things.
For the record, I joined but I'm already having password problems. Since I'm on a cruise and paying $.50 a minute for Internet access, I'm not interested in trying to get in touch with them to get the password fixed. Maybe I'll e-mail them a copy of my newsletter and see if they get in touch with me.
My World Cruise
Well for the record, I'm on my way to Australia. I left West Virginia on January 15. On the 20th the ship left LA for Kona, Hawaii. Don't look for any country music in Hawaii. On the 26th we were in Honolulu. Hawaii was nice but like the rest of the US everyone has their own special interest group. We have to be the most divided country in the world. Hawaiians' are sure that Hawaiians are better than anyone else. Just like Blacks and Whites fight so do Gays and Lesbians against straight people and women against men. It's no wonder the USA economy is in a slump. We are so divided that we should be taking bets on when the government is going to fold. We talk about discrimination but it's always someone else's problem. If it doesn't become everyone's problem pretty some, we won't have to worry about it. We'll destroy ourselves.
After Hawaii we went to Port Vila, Vanuatu. If you want to know where the US is headed check out this island. They have 70% unemployment. I talked to one of the people on my tour about how poor those people were and sure enough he said he's been there. Well I've been poor too but 70% unemployment, we haven't been there yet. When I questioned him about experiencing 70% unemployment he wasn't quite as sure about weather he's been there or not. I suspect that he realized he was like every other American. We all have the "ME FIRST VIRUS" If you don't have that one yet, I bet you have "WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME."
Anyway after Port Vila, we went to Noumea, New Caledonia. They were a little better off and I liked their country a lot. You just have to find the prettier side of the island.
After Noumea, we toured four ports in New Zealand. The northern island is a lot warmer and they seem more advanced. They're really big on solar power and they drive smaller cars. The country is a lot prettier than the US and families get out and enjoy the parks, playgrounds and beaches. Americans just don't do things as a family anymore. I use to coach my son's soccer teams and it's always the same parents that show up for the games. Some parents never take an interest in their kid's activities. It's sad isn't it. Some day those kids might get into trouble and the parents won't know why. I hope the counselors ask them how active they are in their kids interests.
Anyway New Zealand is a lot better place to live than the US. Public transportation makes the need for a car a luxury. A lot of towns have free bus service inside the city. So their inner city stores are still making money. People park outside the town and take the free service from store to store.
The fact that I found the LineDancer Magazine in New Zealand and not the USA might say something too. Remember it's a English (UK) publication. I also found a magazine on Australian Web Sites that you might want to check out if you ever want to visit or better yet relocate to Australia. It's called: INTERNET.AU They also have a Web Site Called: WWW.INTERNET.AU.COM That magazine and their Web Site will help you learn everything you need to know about anything on the Web. I only used their site for a couple of minutes and I found some outstanding places to rent while I'm visiting Australia. It's much cheaper to live and have fun outside the US, I think GOD is telling me it's time to move. I just have to find the right place. There are so many places that are much better than the USA. The USA might have been the best place to live in the world at one time but that's far from true today. If some one tells you it's still true ask them were they've been, what they did and how long they were out of the country. You'd also have to ask them how much money they have. In the USA money is power and fun. Just ask OJ what money can buy in the USA. |
